Get the Smile You've Always Wanted
If you have teeth that are chipped, misshapen, or too discolored for traditional whitening, you may be a good candidate for dental veneers. Veneers are thin, ceramic casings that are bonded to the front side of your teeth to give your smile a nice, more uniform appearance.
Dr. Gonzalez also provides Lumineers® system veneers, which are less invasive than traditional veneers. Lumineers® require less shaping preparation to bond to your teeth, so shots are usually not needed. Lumineers® are also reversible, whereas traditional dental veneers are usually permanent.
How is a Dental Veneer Used?
Elmwood Park, IL Veneers
The Procedure
When you visit North Avenue Dental Care for dental veneers, we’ll begin by taking an impression of your teeth to create custom veneers in a lab. These veneers will be crafted to match the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth, which typically takes a week or more to complete.
To prepare your tooth for the veneer, we’ll need to remove a small amount of enamel to ensure a secure, flat fit that aligns with your gum tissue. Once the tooth is prepared, we’ll place a temporary veneer using removable glue. It’s important to brush your teeth gently and avoid eating foods that could dislodge the temporary veneer, as it is held in place with a removable adhesive.
Once your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for a fitting. We’ll remove the temporary veneer and check the fit of the new one, often using a water-based solution to ensure it looks and feels right. If any adjustments are needed, we’ll make them at that time. Once everything is perfect, we’ll clean the tooth and bond the permanent veneer in place.
The results are instant, giving you a stunning, natural-looking smile that you can show off right away!
